Hi, my name is Juanita Davis. I founded Living Well Integrative Counseling because I’m passionate about helping women feel better in mind and body as they navigate life’s challenges. I often refer to this as your wellness journey.
My own wellness journey began over a decade ago. Life presented a challenge that I quickly discovered I was not equipped to handle as my anxiety turned into heart palpitations and insomnia. The tools I had used in the past were no longer working and to overcome this new challenge would required new skills. I recalled how great I felt after yoga classes and wondered if it was a coincidence or if there was research to suggest that somatic practices (practices that engage the body) like yoga were good for mental health. I also wondered how I would feel if l started a daily practice. I soon discovered that there was in fact a lot of research on the mental and physical health benefits of yoga, and I experienced these benefits in my own life. I felt good mentally and physically and from that point forward it has been my mission to learn all I can about the mind-body connection, and about how somatic approaches can improve mental health.
My approach is integrative which means that I look at the entire person in a unified way. I merge elements from different schools of thought which allows me to be more flexible and inclusive in my work. Some of the elements I include are movement, nutritional self-care, breathing exercises, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, and meditation.
I’m excited to share with you what I know works as you take the first step in your wellness journey.

Just for fun…
I’m a home body so my idea of fun is curling up with my dog and watching reruns of The Golden Girls and Martin. However, when I do venture out I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, and trying new restaurants.
